Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own. - Robert A. Heinlein
I couldn't be more happy for our friends on their engagement. These two are both beautiful people inside and out. Thank you for allowing me to capture this exciting time in your lives.
I had the honor of photographing a superhero themed 1st birthday party for Mr. Sebastian this past weekend. I can not even begin to tell you how much of an amazing job this little man's family did. Every detail was carefully thought of and put together. From the decorations to the guest attire, it was more than any little boy could ask for.
Not only was the decor amazing, but the love that this family has for this newly one year old is breathtaking. This little boy is loved to the moon & back by so many people. It made me emotional to see how all of the guests loved this little man. He was never alone and always surrounded. Every child should experience a love like this, because it truly is beautiful.

Over the past few weeks you have probably seen me blowing up something called Project Meraki. The name itself describes exactly what this adventure was for me.
This project was a vision that I worked hard to bring to life. Without the talented team that accompanied me, I wouldn't have been able to pull it off. About a month ago I came up with this idea that I wanted to do a bohemian stylized shoot. I wanted to build a team of vendors & models to make this vision a reality. I wanted this to be a release, showcasing my new editing style that I had developed all winter long.
So over the next few weeks, I contacted amazing vendors, put out casting calls and created a team that was more amazing than I can even put into words. We met, we planned, we worked, we envisioned. And every time I spoke with one of them, I became more and more eager for the shoot to happen. The team made me passionate and more excited for this shoot every day.
On May 17, we finally met and live blogged our entire day. Starting at 1p, we worked to create this masterpiece we had been drooling over for the past month. Our day came to an end at 9pm that night. This was no easy task, but the amount of fun I had was unexplainable. I was full of pure joy seeing everyone come together and making this adventure one that I would never forget.
Now, 1.5 weeks later, I finally have my final product. I am so excited to share what we have worked on with each and every one of you.

My New Years resolution, well one of them, is to start and finish a 365 project. Some of you may already know what this is, but if you don't, let me fill you in. It is a picture a day for an entire year. Yep, you just read that right, an entire year.
I won't bog down my blog or Facebook with pictures everyday, but you will be able to follow my adventures on my Instagram. Just look up my handle @littleanchorphoto to see my Little Anchor life starting January 1, 2015. I can almost guarantee this project will become the AG Chronicles by documenting a full year of my sons life, but I'm not mad about it.
And to start this project off right, here's my first photo! (I apologize for any messy house photos you may encounter.)
Family traditions. Cookie bakes, Christmas Bruch, Easter Dinner, Family Reunions. Everyone has them and you either hate them or you love them. But what is a tradition? Why are they so important? Traditions help give you a sense of belonging. They give you a sense of identity and memories to pass on from one generation to the next.
If you ask me, traditions are awesome!! Nothing makes me happier than seeing my loved ones truly enjoying themselves. This past weekend, a new family tradition was introduced to me and it was nothing short of delicious. Yes, I said delicious. Tasty, yummy in my tummy, delicious. I spent time with family, laughed, ate, laughed, cooked and laughed some more. What kind of tradition did I participate in? Tamale making of course! Did I mention it was so awesome? Here's to family, love and making memories.
Life's moments are meant to be cherished and for that reason alone you should consider lifestyle photographs. But what is lifestyle photography? It is exactly what it sounds like. It is photos taken at the very core of your life. It is the raw and unexpected events, documented for you to cherish. I know what you are thinking, "But Serena, what will you photograph and why on earth should I pay you for this?" Well that is simple, I will photograph whatever you want me to! Do you want to remember breakfast time in the mornings? Baking cookies with your little ones? Bath time? Dance parties in the living room? Playing tea or school? Or just simply snuggling on the couch?
I will be a fly on the wall and capture you and your family doing what you do best, being you! Nobody has to run and get a camera to document Sally playing tea or to catch Johnny jumping on his bed. I can do that while you join in the fun.
Now you are thinking, what exactly will these photos look like? Well let me show you some of such a beautiful family that let me into their home to capture the love they have for one another. Having them interact with each other was effortless and the love they expressed for one another was so heartfelt. All they really wanted was to snuggle with their baby boy and cherish the moments within his first year. I left this session feeling completely full of joy and happiness. I can honestly say that these photos are some of the most beautiful photos I have had the chance to take. I am thankful that they chose me to capture them.
With that said, live in the moment. Make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering, and let me capture the moments for you.
...because I have the best cousins! When my cousins asked me to take their Christmas/Family pictures I was beyond excited! They have never had a family photo done and I was completely honored they choose me to capture their moments. It doesn't hurt they they are all kinda cute too. Love you guys to the moon and absolutely loved shooting this with you!
I ventured out to a new location and I was not disappointed with the scenery or the family I was photographing. Emmy and Charlie have this incredible love and bond. I would ask them to smile or play, and they would immediately wrap their arms around each other. I can't even put into words how beautiful it was to see them together.
Even though their love was so breathtaking, the most memorable part of my evening was when Emmy asked "Mommy, when can we get our clothes dirty?" She wanted so badly to run around play on the trails. Who can blame her?
Until next time. xo.
